Amanda Crawford Stifel, Founder
Amanda Crawford Stifel is the Founder of Polished Corners, LLC, which provides etiquette coaching and consulting services to the DC area. A native Washingtonian, Amanda grew up on the Cathedral Close, graduating from National Cathedral School for Girls whose school hymn is the origin of the company’s name. She is a contemporary, dynamic teacher who understands the importance of traditional manners through a modern lens. Her services provide an intimate understanding of comportment and protocol as only a native could.
Prior to Polished Corners, Amanda worked at Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman in the public relations and special events departments where she specialized in event planning. Her events ranged from intimate dinners to parties for hundreds with catwalks and red carpets. Better yet, it was a perfect mix of loves: fashion and etiquette. Amanda has an M.A. in Interpersonal Communications from Northwestern University where she studied the psychology of etiquette, as well as an Ed.M. from Harvard University focusing on how children and adults learn and retain information. As a result, Amanda understands both the historical genesis and psychological importance of etiquette, and how to teach others the current relevance in a lasting and interesting way.
In addition to her consulting work, Amanda writes as Miss Polished Corners, turning her attention and suggestions to a wider audience.
